Lombard Police Set Up Mobile Command Unit, Cordon Off Home Near Elementary School

A man was found dead in his home, on the 800 block of Hammerschmidt Avenue in Lombard Thursday, according to various sources.

Very few details are available, but a neighbor who lives across the street on Hammerschmidt told Elmhurst Patch the incident happened Thursday, and that the man had been murdered. Lombard police have not released any information, but they did have the home cordoned off with police tape and set up a mobile command unit nearby.

The home is located about a block away from Hammerschmidt Elementary School, just north of the home. A child who lives in the home attends the school, according to Trib Local. At no time were children in danger, Lombard Elementary District 44 Superintendent Jim Blanche told the paper.
