Lombard Man Gets 38 Years for Child Sexual Assault

Victim reportedly was 7 years old when the assaults began.

A Lombard man was sentenced Wednesday to 38 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a child in his care.

German Carlos Torres, 50, pleaded guilty on March 7 to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child (a Class X Felony).

Prosecutors said that between Jan. 1, 2004, and Sept. 19, 2008, Torres sexually assaulted the child on several occasions at his home, on the 21W600 block of Lynn Road. The victim eventually disclosed to family members that Torres had assaulted her, according to a press release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.

The Daily Herald is reporting the victim was about 7 years old when the assaults began.

“For years German Torres repeatedly sexually assaulted his young victim to satisfy his own twisted desires,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a prepared statement. “He betrayed the victim in the worst possible way. I would like to thank the young victim in this case for having the courage to come forward and bringing this matter to our attention."

Torres will be required to serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
