The Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co. has chosen Jeff Buccola as fire chief. Buccola will serve out the five months that were remaining when Pete Campbell resigned from the position.
Buccola is a 21-year veteran of the volunteer fire company. He will serve as the chief of the company until the annual election takes place in April 2013.
Recently Campbell resigned the position of fire chief due to personal reasons, according to the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co.
In addition to Buccola taking over as fire chief, Chief Chris Clark will be filling out the rest of the term as First Assistant Chief, according to a news release from the organization.
“The GEVFC will not only provide the residents with fire and EMS service, but will continue to evaluate the role of the GEVFC with the West Suburban Fire/Rescue Alliance and the replacement of our lead engine at both stations,” Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co. Public Information Office Craig Eldridge said in a news release. “We continue to work closely with our neighboring departments and train to provide the finest fire protection possible.”
Buccola’s name will be submitted to the Village of Glen Ellyn at the next Village Board meeting at which time the fire company’s board of directors will ask that he be appointed the chief of the fire company.
The fire company’s board of directors will also seek to fill the administrator position that was left vacant after Campbell’s resignation.
