Glen Ellyn Man Charged With Robbing Bank

Dane R. Phenegar, 22, is charged with robbing an Elgin bank and also is suspected in incidents at Wheaton and Geneva banks.

A 22-year-old Glen Ellyn man used a note to rob $4,000 from a bank in Elgin, according to the Daily Herald.

Dane R. Phenegar allegedly passed a note to a teller at the Elgin State Bank on Dec. 20 requesting money from the teller's drawer. The note also stated Phenegar was armed with a gun, according to the Daily Herald.

Phenegar also is a suspect in the Dec. 5 robberies at a Fifth Third Bank branch in Wheaton and the First State Bank branch in Geneva, according to the Chicago office of the FBI. He also is suspected in Dec. 9 robbery of the TCF Bank branch in Glendale Heights.

The St. Charles Police Department arrested Phenegar on Dec. 22, just two days after the incident, according to . Authorities tried to pull Phenegar over in his car after they witnessed him visiting another robbery suspect out of St. Charles, according to St. Charles TribLocal. He fled on foot before being obtained
