Glen Ellyn Flood 2013: Volunteer Fire Company Assisted in Water Rescues, Evacuations

When the severe storms hit on April 18, the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company's members mobilized to help in town and in neighboring communities.

Responding to a total of 43 calls for service the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company helped residents deal with flooding and assisted those in need during water rescues on April 18.

The fire company also responded to smoke investigations, gas leaks and fire alarms, among the many calls, said Craig Eldridge, the fire company’s public information officer.

In addition, the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company also assisted neighboring communities, sending the swift water rescue boat and personnel to Elmhurst and additional fire apparatus to Lisle, he said. In Lisle, the crews assisted in the evacuation of two nursing homes.
