DuPage County Will Host Heroin Prevention Forum Jan. 23

DuPage Coalition Against Heroin will host a Heroin Prevention Forum for community members, parents and students next week in Wheaton. The forum is part of a series of outreach efforts sponsored by the coalition, which was recently organized by a group of DuPage County officials.

The forum will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the DuPage County administration building auditorium, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton.

The program will provide a variety of details about heroin, its impact on the community and information about local resources. Featured speakers will include Bill Patrianokis of the Hero Epidemic Relief Organization and Felicia Miceli of LTM Heroin Awareness and Support Foundation.

DuPage County students who participated in a contest that encouraged them to design public service announcements, billboards and videos educating their peers about heroin will be recognized. The contest was sponsored by the Coalition and DuPage County Regional Superintendent Dr. Darlene Ruscitti.

In addition to the public forum, the Coalition will launch a website and social media campaign next week.

Founding members of the DuPage Coalition Against Heroin include the DuPage County Board, DuPage County Health Department, County Board Chairman Dan Cronin, State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, Coroner Rich Jorgensen, Regional Superintendent Dr. Darlene Ruscitti, Sheriff John Zaruba, Public Defender Jeff York and DuPage County Chiefs of Police Association.
