DUI Roundup, Oct. 27 Edition

Driving-under-the-influence charges reported in the week prior to Oct. 27 in Patch towns throughout the west suburbs.


BATAVIA

Oct. 20: Batavia police arrested John Biggers, 41, of Batavia on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to give information after striking other property, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident on the Donovan Bridge, according to a report filed at 1:09 a.mBiggers posted his driver’s license and an I-Bond and has a court date of Nov. 27.

Oct. 19: Batavia police arrested Dexter Verner, of West Chicago on charges of speeding, illegal transportation of alcohol, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, driving under the influence of alcohol and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 100 block of West Wilson Street, according to a report filed at 2:05 a.m. Oct. 19. Verner has a court date of Nov. 20.


DOWNERS GROVE

Oct. 18: Keri A. Black, of Villa Park, faces multiple charges after she was stopped on Butterfield Road early in the morning Oct. 18. Black was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, as well improper use of a turn signal.

ELMHURST

Oct. 20: Cassondra Zimbelman, 23, 1125 E. Railroad Apt. 4, Sandwich, was arrested and charged with DUI after police said she was driving her green Pontiac Sunfire on the rims, with two tires "completely gone from the vehicle," at North Avenue and Route 83 at 4:42 a.m.

Oct. 19:

  • Rigoberto Arauz, 48, 17W06 Foster, Wood Dale, was arrested and charged with DUI and resisting arrest after police pulled over his gray Toyota RAV4 for speeding and improper lane use at North and West at 1:20 a.m. He was released on bond.

  • Connor McDermott, 18, 643 W. Crockett, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI, consumption of alcohol by a minor, illegal transportation of alcohol, improper lane use and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after his blue Volkswagon Jetta crashed into a light pole at Old Grand and Grand at midnight. Two passengers in the vehicle were charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor. They all were released on bond.


  • Oct. 18: Pawel Soja, 41, 9342 Landings Lane, Des Plaines, was arrested and charged with DUI after police observed a black Chrysler van parked with the motor running at South and Kenilworth at 10:47 a.m. The officer said he could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. Soja was released on bond.

    Oct. 16: Danielle Wolke, 27, 5200 Lemon Road, Hanover Park, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over her black Ford Explorer for improper lane use and speeding at Route 83 and North Avenue at 12:36 a.m. She was released on bond.

    Oct. 14: Pedro Salinas, 28, 285 N. Richmond Apt. 32, Clarendon Hills, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a license after police pulled over his Chevy Cavalier for improper lane use at Route 83 and North Avenue at 1:18 a.m. He was released on bond.

    Oct. 13

    • Carlos Gonzalez, 74, 547 Lynn Court Apt. E, Glendale Heights, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use and parking on the roadway after police said they found his vehicle parked over the curb on the sidewalk at North and Elm at 3:59 a.m. It was his sixth DUI arrest, according to the police report. He was taken to DuPage County Jail, where he is being held on $25,000 bond. His vehicle is being held for forfeiture.

    • Sabrina Bernardi, 21, 1167 S. Aherns, Lombard, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over her white Jeep Compass for disobeying a top sign at 1:31 a.m. She was released on bond.

  • Christopher Duell, 37, 1N205 Timber, Winfield, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his red Honda Accord for wrong-way driving at First and Addison at 1:50 a.m. He was released on bond.

  • Reyna Moreno, 33, 247 E. Parkside, Lombard, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without a license after police pull over her gray Honda Civic for improper lane use and failure to yield at North and Riverglen at 3:27 a.m. She was released on bond.

  • Frederick A. Krkoch, 60, 820 Harrow Court, Addison, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after his silver Chevrolet Colorado was involved in an accident with a vehicle driven by a 65-year-old Chicago man at Lake and Church at 6:49 p.m. He also was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

  • Oct. 12: Alex Guitierrez, 19, 4959 N. Keeler, Chicago, was arrested and charged with zero tolerance DUI and consumption of alcohol by a minor after police pulled over his black Chevrolet Cavalier for speeding and improper lane use at St. Charles and Holly at 3:56 a.m. He was released on bond.

    Oct. 11: Jacob Salazar, 23, 311 N. Osceola St., Minooka, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled over his blue Nissan Altima for improper lane use at York and First Street at 1:01 a.m. He was released on bond.


    GENEVA

    Oct. 20: Geneva police arrested David Gavin, 28, of Naperville on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more and speeding around 12:59 a.m. Oct. 20 in the 200 block of West State Street, reports said. He also was issued a warning notice for illegal transportation of alcohol. He has a court date of Nov. 20 at the Kane County Judicial Center, 37W777 Route 38, St. Charles.

    Oct. 13: Geneva police arrested Domingo Flores, 34, of West Chicago on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more and cited him for no valid driver’s license after a traffic stop at 1:59 a.m. Oct. 13 in the 1400 block of East State Street, reports said. He has a court date of Nov. 6 at the Kane County Judicial Center, 37W777 Route 38, St. Charles.

    Oct. 10: Geneva police arrested Gage Schmit, 21, of St. Charles on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with blood-alcohol content of .08 or more driving while license cancelled or revoked and speeding around 2:40 a.m. Oct. 10 in the 2200 block of Bricher Road, reports said. He was issued a warning notice for failure to notify the secretary of state regarding an address change. He has a court date of Nov. 20 at the Kane County Judicial Center, 37W777 Route 38, St. Charles.

    GLEN ELLYN

    Oct. 12:

    • Alexander N. Bien, 18, 1046 Boynton Place, Cincinnati, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to signal, improper U-turn and expired registration at Roosevelt and Baker Hill at 1:41 a.m.

    • Peter J. Goergen, 23, 566 Glacier Trail, Roselle, was arrested and charged with DUI, driving without insurance and improper lane use at Roosevelt and Lambert at 4:17 a.m.

    Oct. 3: Melissa J. Laker, 44, 303 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn, was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after an accident at 530 Roosevelt Road at 3:50 p.m.

    Sept. 29: Jeffrey R. McKenzie, 51, 475 Raintree, Glen Ellyn, was arrested for DUI at 8:40 p.m. A location was not included in the police report.

    Sept. 22: Colleen J. McCarty, 28, 290 Walnut, Elk Grove Village, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use at 2:11 a.m. at Roosevelt and Hillcrest.


    HINSDALE

    Oct. 19: Hinsdale police charged Anageli Tochimani, 23, of the 1500 block of West June Way Terrace, Chicago, with driving under the influence after an officer came upon her at 4:23 a.m., asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle parked in front of a “No Parking” sign and fire hydrant in the 800 block of North Oak Street. She failed an ensuing breath test, then was released to appear in court.


    LEMONT

    Oct. 19: Eduardo Chavez-Guzman, 20, 127 Hobbs Ave., Joliet, was arrested at 4:40 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation or possession of alcohol, and speeding following a traffic stop in the 16600 block of New Avenue. He was issued a Dec. 2 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.


    NAPERVILLE

    Oct. 21: Osbaldo Martinez-Mares, 21, of Oswego, was arrested at 11:37 p.m. near Cantore Road and Route 59, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.   

    Oct. 20: James J. Constantine, 30, of Sheridan, was arrested at 2:32 a.m. near Washington Street and West 14th Avenue, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.
    Oct. 20: Nathan Robert Kilian, 23, of Joliet, was arrested at 1:56 a.m. near Aurora Avenue and South Washington Street, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

    Oct. 19: Jason D. Arges, 29, of Oswego, was arrested at 1:43 a.m. near Deering Bay Drive and 95th Street, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

    Oct. 19: Miguel Hernandez, 39, of Glendale Heights, was arrested at 2:40 a.m. near Washington Street and East Bailey Road, police said. He was charged with aggravated driving under the influence. He was transported to DuPage County Jail.

    Oct. 18: Pedro Rodriguez-Gonzalez, 53, of Carol Stream, was arrested at 12:10 p.m. near Diehl Road and Raymond Drive, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

    Oct. 18: Andrew Francis Czernicki, 28, of Montgomery, was arrested at 10:47 p.m. near Ogden Avenue and North Mill Street, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.  


    ST. CHARLES

    Oct. 18: Guy Joseph Sclafani, 44, of the 7600 block of West Talcott Avenue, Chicago, was charged at 11:42 p.m. with driving under the influence of alcohol, and DUI with a blood-alcohol concentration greater than .08. Police said his blood-alcohol concentration was .125. He was released on his own recognizance pending a Nov. 14, 2013 court appearance.

    Oct. 18: Manuel Ambrosio Garcia Jr., 37, of the 1500 block of Deerfield Court, was charged at 1:17 a.m. at Dunham Road and East Main Street with DUI, and disobeying a traffic-control sign. He posted his driver’s license and $100 cash bond and was released pending a Nov. 13, 2013 court appearance.

    Oct. 15: James Moore, 59, of the 800 block of Blue Ridge Drive, Streamwood, was charged at 9:04 p.m. at Ohio Avenue and South Kirk Road with DUI, and improper lane use. He was released on his own recognizance pending a Nov. 21, 2013 court appearance.


    WHEATON

    Oct. 19: Nancy Arce-Aguilar, 23, of the 21200 block of Willow Road, Lake Zurich, was arrested at 11:27 a.m. at Stonebridge Trail and Wiesbrook Road on charges of driving under the incidence of alcohol, and no insurance. She was released after posting bail.

    Oct. 19: Michael B. Adler, 24, of the 1600 block of West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 3:25 a.m. at Naperville and Roosevelt roads on charges of DUI, and no insurance. He was released after posting bail.
