Dog Catches Suspected Car Burglar

DuPage County Sheriff K-9 handler finds alleged burglar, Trevor Llamas of Glen Ellyn, hiding under a fence.

Authorities are praising a dog named "Praise" for his work in tracking a suspect who allegedly burglarized cars near Lombard, officials said Friday. 

Trevor Llamas, 20, of the 20 block of Surrey Drive in Glen Ellyn has been charged with one count of Burglary to Motor Vehicle, a Class 1 felony, one count of Obstructing Justice, a Misdemeanor, and one count of Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor, also a Misdemeanor, DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba announced Friday.

The Sheriff’s Office around 6:40 a.m. Friday received a report of a suspicious male, possibly intoxicated, looking in car windows near the intersection of Roosevelt Road and Lawler Avenue in unincorporated Lombard, according to a news release from the Sheriff's office.

The sheriff's K-9 handler, "Praise," was able to find Llamas hiding under a fallen wooden gate after running from authorities, according to the release. 

Llamas is currently being held in the DuPage County Jail on $10,000 bond.
