A story in the Chicago Tribune reported that Rogers presented a teller at the bank branch, located inside Jewel, with a note asking for all the money in the top drawer. The note indicated the bank robber had a gun. Rogers was allegedly given $1,172 and the note and he left the bank.

Rogers appeared Thursday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Sheila M. Finnegan, at which time he was formally charged and was released on bond pending his next court appearance.
