Bond Set at $500K For Man Charged in Domestic Dispute

Eric J. Rego faces battery charges after Monday's standoff with police.

A judge set bail at $500,000 for Eric J. Rego, 35, of Glen Ellyn who allegedly beat his wife and then barricaded himself in his apartment. 

After a standoff with the DuPage County Sheriff's Department SWAT team, Rego was arrested and charged with battery charges, possession of a controlled substance and cannabis. Documents indicate that the victim, Rego's wife, was pregnant at the time of the beating.  

According to a Daily Herald report, Rego has a detailed criminal background including other domestic battery charges and was wanted in Florida for grand theft and forgery.
