Blotter: Police Respond to Residential Burglary, Assault, Trespassing

The following incidents were taken from the Glen Ellyn police blotter.

Panhandling: Officers responded to the 400 block of Main Street on May 13 at 10:32 a.m. According to the report, Wayne A. Nulicek, 58, of Wheaton was issued a citation for panhandling. 

Criminal damage: Officers responded to a reported burglary in the 600 block of North Park Boulevard on May 14 at 8 a.m. According to the report, the complainant told officers an unknown offender kicked in the rear door and damaged walls in the home. 

Burglary to motor vehicle: Officers responded to a reported motor vehicle burglary in the 300 block of May Avenue on May 14 at 10 a.m. According to the report, the complainant told officers an unknown offender gained entry into the unlocked vehicle. No property was reported missing.

Driving under the influence: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop at Geneva Road and Evergreen Avenue on May 14 at 12:43 a.m. According to the report, Miron Unkovic, 21, of Wheaton was charged with a DUI and issued a traffic citation for improper lane usage. 

Driving with suspended license: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop at Roosevelt and Lambert Roads on May 11 at 8:03 a.m. According to the report, Desmond Q. Strother, 30, of Chicago was issued traffic citations for driving with a suspended license and driving without a seat belt.

Residential burglary: Officers responded to a reported burglary in the 800 block of Seminary Circle on May 11 around 1 p.m. According to the report, the complainant told officers an unknown offender broke through the front door of the home. Nothing was reported missing. 

Aggravated assault: Officers responded to a reported assault in the 1100 block of Surrey Road on May 11 at 8:24 p.m. According to the report, John Bogdan, 61, of Glen Ellyn was charged with one count of aggravated assault. 

Disorderly conduct: A juvenile was issued a citation for spitting on another student on May 12 at , 670 Crescent Blvd., around 11 a.m.

Theft: Officers responded to a reported theft at Walgreens, 324 Roosevelt Rd., on May 10 around 8:45 p.m. According to the report, a complainant parked an unlocked bicycle near the entrance. When the victim returned the bicycle was missing. The bike is estimated at $700. 

Assault: Officers responded to an assault in the 300 block of Duane Street on May 10 at 9:12 p.m. According to the report, Joseph A. Martinez, 39, of Glen Ellyn was intoxicated and harassing others. Martinez was charged with one count of assault. 

Theft: A complainant came into the police station May 11 at 10 a.m., to report a stolen license plate from his vehicle. According to the report, the theft occurred in the 1100 block of Surrey Drive. 

Criminal trespass: While performing a building check on May 11 at 5:11 a.m., an officer made contact with Robert A. Walensa, 55, of Wheaton. According to the report, Walensa was served a trespass letter from the property manager several days prior. Walensa was then charged with one count of criminal trespass to property. 

Illegal dumping: Officers responded to an illegal dumping report on May 8 at 4:30 p.m. According to the report, Kimberly S. Hicks, 43, of Lombard was observed throwing trash into a dumpster in the 1200 block of Old Bond Court. Hicks was issued a citation for illegal dumping. 

Criminal trespass to property: Officers responded to a report of trespassing at Jewel, 599 Roosevelt Rd., on May 8 at 6 p.m. According to the report, Mark E. Parenty, 54, of Wheaton was issued a misdemeanor for criminal trespass to property after being served with a trespass notification earlier in the day.

Alcohol violations: While on patrol an officer came across an occupied vehicle in the parking lot at America's Best Value Inn and Suites, 675 Roosevelt Rd., on May 8 at 8:13 p.m. According to the report, Curtis W. Rogers, 21, of Texas was issued a citation for giving a minor alcohol and was transported to DuPage County Jail for an outstanding warrant out of Winnebago County. Craig D. Jones, 32, of Rockford was issued a citation for possession of alcohol by a person under 21. 

Criminal trespass: Officers responded to a trespass report in the 500 block of Crescent Boulevard on May 14 at 10:07 a.m. According to the report, Robert A. Walensa 55, of Wheaton was charged with criminal trespass to property. 

Possession of cannabis: While on patrol, an officer detected the odor of cannabis near the 600 block of Roosevelt Road on May 14 at 10:46 p.m. According to the report, Eugene C. Jirak, 41, of Glen Ellyn was issued a citation for possession of cannabis and drug equipment.
