Blotter: DUIs and Public Intoxication

The following incidents were taken from the Glen Ellyn police blotter.

Public intoxication: Officers responded to a domestic situation at Panfish Park on April 24 at 7:13 p.m. When officers arrived they issued village ordinance citations for public intoxication and citations for littering in the park to three Wheaton residents; William J. Hartfield, 36; Leah A. Brosky, 20; and Robert L. Schnable, 51.  

Unlawful possession of cannabis: While on patrol an officer performed a traffic stop at Fawell Boulevard and Ramblewood Drive and arrested Dane P. Murphy, 20, Naperville, for possession of cannabis (under 30 grams), possession of drug equipment and was issued a speeding citation. 

Criminal defacement: While on patrol an officer observed spray painted letters on the north side of the building at 69 Surrey Dr., on April 25 at 12:50 p.m. The officer contacted the building owner to have it removed.

Retail theft: Officers responded to a call of retail theft at the Aldi's grocery store at 700 Roosevelt Rd., on April 26 at 5:32 p.m. A complainant told officers an unknown offender left the store with multiple items without paying. 

No driver's license: Josefina Aldama, 23, Glendale Heights, was issued a traffic citation for driving without a driver's license and speeding in a school zone near Kenilworth and Geneva Roads on April 27 at 3:32 p.m.

Domestic battery: Officers responded to a call of domestic battery in the 1100 block of Surrey Drive on April 27 at 4:50 p.m. John G. Rofus, 49, Glen Ellyn, was arrested and transported to DuPage County Jail after being charged with two counts of domestic battery. 

Disorderly conduct: Officers responded to a disturbance near Sheehan Avenue and Route 53 on April 27 at 6:44 p.m. Angelica Ortega, 24, Aurora, was charged with disorderly conduct, reckless driven and criminal damage. Ortega was also issued two traffic citations; driving without a valid license and leaving a motor vehicle unattended. 

Criminal damage to property: Officers responded to a damaged property report in the 600 block of Revere Road on April 27 at 9:17 p.m. According to the report, the complainant told officers than an unknown offender broke the front window of his home. 

Driving under the influence: While on patrol an officer came upon a vehicle that was involved in an accident on April 27, 11:09 p.m. at Oak Street and Kenilworth Avenue. According to the report, the juvenile was charged with a DUI and was issued a traffic citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. 

Public intoxication: Officers responded to a public intoxication call on April 28 at 9:58 a.m., in the 100 block of South Park Boulevard. According to the report, the officer made contact with Robert L. Schnable, 51, Wheaton and issued him a village citation for public intoxication. 

Theft: Officers responded to a reported theft at Health Track, 875 Roosevelt Rd., on April 28 around 8 p.m. The complainant told officers that an unknown offended stole her cell phone from the bench inside the locker room. 

Burglary to motor vehicle: Officers responded to a reported burglary to motor vehicle at the Giordano's restaurant, 455 Roosevelt Rd., on April 29 at 7:30 a.m. According to the report, a complainant told officers that an unknown offender stole an amplifier from the trunk of the vehicle, which is estimated at $70. 

Possession of drug paraphernalia: Officers responded to a dispute between a landlord and tenant on April 29 at 11:15 a.m., in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. According to the report, John R. Speciale, 32, Glen Ellyn, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Fighting: Officers responded to a reported fight in the 500 block of Crescent Boulevard on April 29 at 1:08 p.m. According to the report, two juveniles, one from Glen Ellyn and the other from Carol Stream, were issued citations for fighting. 

Theft: Officers responded to a reported theft in the 1200 block of St. James Place on April 30 around 1:30 p.m. According to the report, a complainant told officers and unknown offender stole four center caps off his vehicles' wheels. 

Driving under the influence of drugs: While on patrol an officers performed a traffic stop at Park Boulevard and Taft Avenue on April 30 at 2:31 a.m. According to the report, Daniel L. Warzecha, 19, Wheaton, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. During the traffic stop Justin T. Klnacic, 21, Lombard was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Driving under the influence: While on patrol an officer performed a traffic stop at Geneva Road and Pleasant Avenue on April 30 at 2:56 a.m. According to the report, Rogero Lowe, 29, Glen Ellyn, was charged with a DUI and was issued a traffic citation for improper lane usage and speeding.
