Blaze Burns Down Detached Garage

The fire broke out Sunday, July 17 around 12:30 p.m.

The Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company responded to a detached garage fire in the 600 block of Euclid Avenue on Sunday, July 17 around 12:30 p.m. 

The first firefighter on the scene reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage located behind the house, according to Craig Eldridge fire company spokesperson. 

Inside the garage was an Acura, which was heavily burned and is now totaled. The garage sustained extensive damage and will be torn down.

The residents were home at the time of the fire and called to report the blaze. Units from Wheaton, Lombard and Lisle-Woodridge assisted by manning the Glen Ellyn fire stations, while one unit from York assisted at the scene of the fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and no one was injured. The surrounding houses sustained minimal damage, according to Eldridge. 

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.
