Bandits Hop Counter, Grab Cash In Takeover Bank Robbery in Glen Ellyn

FBI thinks pair that robbed Glen Ellyn Chase bank branch Thursday may have hit another Chase in Palatine last year.

Two men shrouded in black hooded jackets knocked off a Glen Ellyn bank just before closing time on Thursday in what is being described as a takeover robbery.

FBI and DuPage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a bank robbery that occurred at about 6 p.m. Thursday.

According to an FBI news release, two male robbers entered the Chase Bank branch at 151 Butterfield Road in unincorporated Glen Ellyn.

The pair hopped over the teller counter to gain access to teller drawers. Both of the robbers were described as male blacks, 5’9” to 5’10”, wearing dark hooded jackets.

There were no weapons displayed, and no injuries were reported.

The FBI-run website Bandittracker.Chicago,  attributes another takeover robbery to the pair of a Chase branch in Paletine on Dec. 3, 2013.

Both robbers have yet to be nicknamed by the FBI.
