Shepherd Mix Ready to Stay and Play, Princess Luna Pup and Cool Cats

Every week we bring you pets looking for homes at area rescue groups. This week the pets are from Animal Rescue Foundation – IL (ARF) and the DuPage County Animal Care and Control. Max

This is Max, a 1-year-old shepherd mix that weighs 44 lbs. He's chill and play all rolled into one handsome boy. ARF saved him just before he was going to be sent to a kill shelter where no doubt he wouldn't have made it out. Max loves to lay next to you and watch TV when you want to relax but he's just as ready to play or go for a walk too. His foster family is working on some basic obedience and he's catching on pretty quickly. Max loves going for a walk and is really adjusting to being an inside dog. For much of his life, he was chained up outside. So he feels like he's scored big time now that he's got the comfort of a foster home. All he needs is a family of his own now.

Max is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and neutered.  His new family will be required to enroll him in a basic obedience course of their choosing. Max's adoption fee is $200. 

Tessa

Tessa is spayed, about 1 to 2 years old and currently being fostered at Naper Ridge VCA.

This sweet young lady is a tri-colored tabby (also known as a "torbie", a combination of tabby and tortie). She is 1-2 years old and was rescued from a kill shelter when she was pregnant and she raised her kittens in a foster home. Now she is looking for that special person to take her to her forever home and share her love.

Tessa is available to be adopted alone, but she would be especially happy if her friend Victoria (also on this website) could be adopted with her. They were in the same foster home and became "mom-friends" while nurturing their kittens.

Tessa is microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. Tessa is one of our featured moms, so with our current subsided fees her adoption fee is only $75!

Fees for adoption are: dogs: $200; puppies: $225; cats: $110; kittens: $125, front paw declawed adults cats $125 unless otherwise noted. Right now the group has a Home for the Holidays promotion. Older cats and moms are $75 and all black cats are only $25!

DuPage County Animal Care and Control

Dougie

Dougie is one of DuPage County Animal Care and Control’s longer residents. He came into our facility because he did not care for the dog that he was living with. Despite not being a huge dog fan, Dougie likes other cats, people, and children. He is very friendly and loves to play. Dougie is a very handsome, black, feline, which unfortunately is the hardest color of cat to get adopted. This may explain why he has been here so long. He would like people to remember that black is a great color. Black is slimming so you will always look great with him sitting on your lap and he never looks dirty. If black is your color and you are looking for a great friend come into our facility and meet Dougie!

Princess Luna

Princess Luna is a Chihuahua mix that is about 3 years old. She has a face a mother could love and comes in a petite package.

Adoption fees at DuPage County Animal Care and Control are $100 for dogs.  Cat adoption fees are $50. For the holidays, the agency has a special program. Donate a pound of food and earn $2 off an adoption. The more you donate in weight, the less your fee. Adoption fees include the fee for the pet, the shots, microchip and registration. Other animals are available at the shelter, including rabbits and guinea pigs. 

The DuPage County Animal Care and Control is located at 120 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton. The hours of operation are Monday and Thursday 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Contact them by phone at 630-407-2800 or visit online.
