Robert Brown

Robert L. Brown, 69, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, in Southern Illinois. He is the brother of Susan (David) Hennicke of Glen Ellyn.

He was an accomplished athlete, earning a basketball/football scholarship to University of Illinois, then taking on a career as a teacher and coach.

He is survived by his loving partner, Vickie Mason; his sons, Michael and Lance; and his five grandchildren. 

Services were held Saturday in West Frankfort.

Attelia "Tillie" Thorpe, 76, has died. She volunteered for Metropolitan Family Services of Chicago, and became manager of its resale shop, Treasure House in Glen Ellyn.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jere, and her children, Beth Mohr and Ernie Thorpe. 

Services were held Saturday in Wheaton.

David Boyd

David I. Boyd died Wednesday, Nov. 6, at his home. He was a band director in Naperville Distrit 203, taught at Marmion Academy and volunteered as a performer.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robin. He is survived by his wife, Patty; his children, Tom and Betsy; and his seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at Faith Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn.

Rita McNair

Dr. Rita Hadley McNair, 74, of Alabama, died Friday, Nov. 8, at home. She was a 1957 graduate of Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn. She was an elementary school teacher in the Chicago suburbs for many years, and was a highly regarded faculty member at University of South Alabama.

She is survived by her husband, Don; her children, Gary, Amy and Scott; her five grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; and her mother, Polly Hadley. 

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley, Ala. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
