William R. Cahill, 92, a lifelong resident of Wheaton and Glen Ellyn, died Jan. 24. He graduated from Glenbard Township High School, was a member of the US Army Signal Corps and a veteran of World War II, and worked as a journalist for the Chicago Journal of Commerce and the Wall Street Journal.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty. He is survived by his children, Anne, W. Robert III, James, Patricia, Joan, Maureen and Kathleen; his 18 grandchildren; and his eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road in Wheaton. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 310 S. Wheaton Ave., Wheaton.
John A. "Jack" Finn, 94, of Naperville, died Jan. 19. He retired from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Glen Ellyn, in 1979 after 20 years of service as an inspector. He also was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; his children, Catherine, Mary, Patricia, Elizabeth and John; and his six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Jan. 22 in Naperville.
Tim Hickey, 66, of Glen Ellyn, died Jan. 13.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Deborah, Tina and Dawn; and his eight grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 16 in Downers Grove.
James A. McCarron, 63, a long-time resident of Glen Ellyn, died Jan. 18. He was an attorney.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cate, and his son, Jay.
A memorial service was held Jan. 25.
Karen Ann Thompson
Karen Ann Thompson, 72, died Jan. 21. She was an administrative assistant for First United Methodist Church in Glen Ellyn for 13 years and was active with the People's Resource Center in Wheaton.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Chuck, her children, Charles and Sarah, and her grandson.
A memorial service was held Jan. 25 in Glen Ellyn.
Agnes Stark, 96, died Nov. 10.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ernest, two brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her children, Conrad (Edith) Stark of Glen Ellyn, Jan (Larry) Drury of Colorado and Susan (Ron) Mayerle of Kansas, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
Genevieve Matlosz Walter, 92, died Nov. 20 in Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, August.
She is survived by her children, Christopher (Sandra) of Glen Ellyn, Lawrence (Mary) of Massachusetts, Michael (Strawberry) of Virginia, Peter (Carolyn) of New Jersey, Joanne (David) of California, and Anita (Paul) Manasian of California; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Feb. 1 in New Jersey.
