Special Diets Are Helping Children With Autism

Please be patient with us "warrior parents" as we stop in the aisles to read food labels!

Undoubtedly, as the years progress you may notice an increase of parents in the aisles of Whole Foods, Fruitful Yield or other health food stores, stopped in the aisle reading the label of every product on the shelves.

Their child may perhaps be in the cart (way too old for that), and the parent is oblivious that they are in your way!

Yes, most likely you have seen my daughter and I in one of these local stores.

Have patience and understanding with us please!

We are Autism parents, on a mission, a journey to help our children through dietary intervention!

Once you recieve the dreaded autism diagnosis, you are fast fowarded into a overwhelming world of doctor appointments, therapy sessions and early intervention.

However, thats where it stops. There is rarley any mention of other types of therapy/interventions that are not considered main stream treatment options.

I find that incredibly sad, as there are many alternative therapies, diets and interventions out there that are proven (ask an autism parent) to help children dramatically.

Oh, how I wish I knew!

I believe in my heart and soul that if I were aware of these alternative treatments nine years ago, my daughter would be much better off today.

Many of our children have severe GI issues.

As a result of that, there behavior may seem as out of control, spoiled and aggressive.

In many cases it is due to their pain, yes, pain that they feel due to the GI issues they have.

The screaming, oh, the screaming!

Hours on end on a daily basis.

Why?

Because they are in pain!

And we, (parents) are looked down upon for trying alternative methods to help our childen.

We are labeled as desperate, uneducated and crazy!

How crazy are we really, when we are the only ones helping our children.

Yes, our children do get better, so back off!

Unfortunately, many of us are on our own to research and implement any kind of alternative treatments.

Many children with Autism improve markedly when following one of the following recommended diets.

The number one most effective diet thus far is the Gluten/Casien diet.

Although not yet incorporated into the "main stream" treatment protocols, it is emerging!

I have been treating my daughter with alternative therapies/interventions for the past two years now, and must say, that it has saved her from extreme GI pain, aggression and regression.
