Glen Ellyn will be well represented at this year's state cross-country meet.
The boys and girls Glenbard South High School cross-country teams have earned a trip to state and the Glenbard West girls cross-country team will also be headed to state after the runners fared well at sectional meets over the past weekend.
The Glenbard West girls cross-country team took home the sectional title at the Class 3A Roselle sectional. Senior Madeline Perez won the sectional with a time of 16:45.
Other state qualifiers for the Glenbard West team include: sophomore Lindsay Graham (17:19); junior Lisa Luczak (17:30); sophomore Grace Rogers (17:50); freshman Janie Nabholz (17:57); sophomore Kathryn Kenwood (18:10); and junior Megan Ozog (18:28).
Paul Christian, a junior at Glenbard West, qualified as an individual for the state meet after finishing with a time of 15:12 at the Roselle sectional.
Meanwhile, the Glenbard South girls cross-country team earned a trip to state after finishing second at the Class 2A West Chicago sectional.
The team was lead by sophomore Diane Lipa who finished in second place with a time of 18:03. Other team members to qualify include: junior Rebecca Sippel (18:41); junior Caroline Arlasky (19:00); senior Elizabeth Niedert (19:28); freshman Abby Schlenker (19:55); senior Bailey Reese (19:56); and junior Jayme Schlenker (20:053), according to the IHSA results page.
The Glenbard South boys team finished in third place overall at the West Chicago sectional. Senior John Wold won the sectional cross-country title, finishing in first place with a time of 14:58.
Also headed to state are: senior Joe Singleton (15:46); senior Joe Meade (16:15); junior Ibrahim Jawad (16:35); sophomore Michael King (16:47); sophomore Jon O'Rourke (16:51); and junior Colin Meade (16:57), according to the IHSA.
The state boys and girls cross-country meet will be held on Nov. 9 at Detweiller Park in Peoria.
