Cross Country: Glenbard South Girls Take Second as a Team

Lady Raiders were led by sophomore Diane Lipa, who came in second with a time of 17:15.

Glenbard South High School Girls Cross Country Team took second in Class 2A at the state tournament in Peoria last weekend. It was the first time in school history the team placed at state.

The Raiders finished with a score of 130, just behind Yorkville's 104 in the Class 2A championship. Rounding out the Top 5 were Vernon Hills in third (181), Marengo in fourth (231) and Maple Park, fifth (246).

Three Glenbard South girls were in the Top 25: sophomore Diane Lipa (2nd, 17:15), junior Rebecca Sippel (7th, 17:39) and junior Caroline Arlasky (24th, 18:02).

The team also included junior Jayme Schlenker (84th), senior Bailey Reese (81st), senior Elizabeth Niedert (121st) and freshman Abby Schlenker (184th).
