Health Department Offers Discounted Well Water Tests for Earth Day

DuPage County Health Department offers discounts on well water tests April 22-26.

From the DuPage County Health Department

April 22 is Earth Day and the DuPage County Health Department urges County residents with private wells to protect the health of their families by getting their well water tested, with a special discount offered during the week of April 22-26.

To celebrate Earth Day, the Health Department has reduced the water well testing fee to $30 for one week only. The testing covers basic coliform bacteria and nitrate screening.

There are approximately 18,000 private wells in DuPage County. An annual test is strongly recommended or whenever work is done on your well or on your plumbing, such as hot water tank replacement.

Residents may stop at any of the Health Department’s Public Health Centers in Addison, Lombard, Westmont or Wheaton to pick up well water testing supplies and instructions, as well as drop off their samples. This the only way that well water will be accepted for testing. Testing results are usually known within 72 hours. Corrective actions are suggested if contamination problems are detected.
