Two Authors Visit the Library This Fall

Learn about the rich history of the world's largest and most populous continent from two well-researched nonfiction authors.

The Glen Ellyn Public Library invites you to meet two authors as part of our Fall Author Series: Nonfiction Set in Asia. Learn about the rich history of the world’s largest and most populous content from two well-researched nonfiction authors.

Visit GEPL on Thursday, September 29 at 7 pm for a discussion of Marooned in Moscow: The story of an American woman imprisoned in Russia. Russian history scholar and author Ben Whisenhunt will be here to talk about his recently reprinted autobiography of Marguerite Harrison, a journalist and American spy in 1920s Russia. Hear about Harrison's imprisonment, impressions of top Soviet leaders, and adventures caught up in extraordinary events.

On Wednesday, October 5 at 7 pm, Meet Jian Ping, author of Mulberry Child: A Memoir of China. The book is the true story of her childhood before, during, and after the Cultural Revolution in China. Facing abuse and deprivation, Jian Ping's multigenerational family struggles to survive the Revolution. The impact of their experiences change their lives forever. Based on her own memories, as well as interviews and exhaustive research, Mulberry Child is a family saga and a tale of resilience, a coming of age story told through the eyes of an innocent child.
