Library Offers School Year Reading Program

Summer reading meets scouting in this fantastic schoolyear based reading program for kids!

Libraries are famous for their annual summer reading programs, and the Glen Ellyn Public Library is no exception. Did you know we also offer something called the Reading Patch Club during the school year? Think of it as summer reading-meets-scouting.

From October 1, 2011 through April 30, 2012, kids can earn patches for every five hours they read. With 45 different patches available, the reading possibilities are huge! Kids can also earn extra rewards with the Reading Patch Club. Once you earn six patches, you receive a Patch Club canvas bag to proudly show off your patches and carry all those books around. Additional reward patches will be given for the 21th, 20th and 40th patches earned overall.

Visit the library or download a reading log to get started. The Reading Patch Club is open to Glen Ellyn residents or those attending Glen Ellyn schools. For ages birth through 8th grade. One patch will be earned for every 5 hours of reading, up to 2 patches per month.
