Glen Ellyn Public Library Offers New Service for the Visually Impaired

The Glen Ellyn Public Library has teamed up with The Blind Service Association of Chicago to create a one-on-one reading program for the visually impaired.

This volunteer program is available to anyone requiring reading assistance with mail, personal paperwork or other printed materials including books, magazines or newspapers. Those interested in assistance are encouraged to register by calling the Blind Service Association at 312-236-0808.

Additionally, the Glen Ellyn Public Library offers a number of other special needs services.

Home delivery is available to library cardholders who are homebound for a short or long period of time. There is no charge for this service and it can be accessed by calling 630-469-0879.

A TeleSensory Magnification Machine is available to assist members with limited vision. The machine is available on the second floor of the library.

Sound Wizards are available for use in the library to help amplify sound for the hearing impaired. Those requiring hearing assistance can reach the Glen Ellyn Public Library through the Illinois Message Relay Service for the hearing impaired at 800-526-0844.
