Newcomers Club Raises Over $4,000 For The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry

Submitted by the Glen Ellyn Newcomers Club.

On March 15, 2014, the Glen Ellyn Newcomers Club hosted its 3rd annual community and charity event “A Celebration of Tables". The event successfully raised over $4,000 for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry.

The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry is a non-profit ecumenical organization that serves thousands of people every year who need food assistance in the communities of Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Glen Ellyn, Lisle, Lombard, and Wheaton. When presented with the money, the Executive Director of the Food Pantry, Susan Papierski, reported the donation will help in the Pantry's much needed purchase of a large commercial sized freezer and refrigerator.

Diana Laufenberg, Co-Chairwoman of the event and former Newcomers' President said "The annual "A Celebration of Tables" event embodies everything about Newcomers, our welcoming spirit and hospitality.

It was a perfect partnership to donate the proceeds to those most in need in our community through the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. The event is not only a wonderful way to see lovely entertaining and decorating ideas, but is also a great way for the community to get to know our club."
