Glen Ellyn Community Plant Exchange

The First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn Earthlings group and First Congregation Church of Glen Ellyn Environmental Creation Care group are co-hosting a "Glen Ellyn Community Plant Exchange" on Saturday, May 19 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
The community plant exchange will take place at First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn located at 550 North Main Street, just north of downtown Glen Ellyn. For the avid gardener, few events are more eagerly anticipated than a bustling, bounteous plant swap. After all, what could be better than sharing the abundance of your garden with fellow green thumbs while expanding your own green space at virtually no cost? A plant swap (or exchange), where everyday gardeners come together to trade all manner of plants, cultivation tools, and garden accessories, builds community among people while encouraging good caretaking of the creation. Here's how the community plant exchange works. Participants bring as many plants they wish to exchange for plants others bring (6-10 is plenty). All that is required is that you bring the plants in plastic containers (preferred) or plastic bags (not as good) with labels. Don't let the labels keep you from participating though. Someone will assist you if you can't identify your plant. There is no cost to participate. It's absolutely free as long as you bring a plant - the more interesting plants, the better, though Creeping Charlie is not allowed anywhere! So dig up a few extra plants, or split your favorites. Have the kids help! Come on by for some community fun. Tell your friends and neighbors too. The more plants, the merrier. It's easy. It's fun. It's free. Best of all, it's totally green for everyone who participates - even the plants!
