Join The Network of Entrepreneurial Women for women's business networking and a rollicking good time!

Just because we’re classy women doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy a beer now and then. What better excuse to enjoy a pint than to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and try to attract some luck of the Irish.

Like any other holiday, there are some inaccuracies in the retelling of how traditions evolved, some debunked on this web site.

“During the gold and silver rush years in the second half of the 19th century, a number of the most famous and successful miners were of Irish and Irish American birth. For example, James Fair, James Flood, William O'Brien and John Mackay were collectively known as the 'Silver Kings' after they hit the famed Comstock Lode. Over time this association of the Irish with mining fortunes led to the expression 'luck of the Irish.' Of course, it carried with it a certain tone of derision, as if to say, only by sheer luck, as opposed to brains, could these fools succeed.”
- Edward T. O’Donnell

At our last Women and Wellness event we joked that we could just celebrate St. Patricia’s Day instead, but Santa Patrizia is not Irish at all, and her story is one of escaping marriage by entering a convent, and dying after a shipwreck that as meant to be the start of a pilgrimage. She’s a saint because she donated all her wealth to the poor. We’ll raise a pint to not living in 600 AD and having more options to live our own lives.

We will engage in another round of speednetworking since it was such a popular activity at our Chocolate Cocktails Women and Wellness event.

Shannon’s Irish Pub was the host of our Crain’s Business Week event last October, and we’re excited about tasting more delicious menu items this time around. Checks will be split individually so that you can choose your own feast based on budget and appetite.

NEW - The Network of Entrepreneurial Women is an exciting, fresh group of Chicagoland business women who are upgrading business networking in the Chicago suburbs and beyond.
