Passover Seder

On Tuesday, April 15th, members of Congregation Etz Chaim will gather with friends and neighbors to celebrate Passover in a communal seder (ritual meal) at the synagogue's social hall, 1710 S. Highland Avenue, Lombard. The seder will begin at 6 pm.

Passover is an ancient, annual eight-day spring festival commemorating the Jews' Exodus from Egypt. The holiday derives its name from the "passing over" of the Israelite homes during the biblical tenth plague. The Passover seder is a retelling and reliving of the Exodus through story and song, the tasting of ritual foods, and the exploration of the meaning of slavery, liberation and freedom.

Rabbis Steven M. Bob and Andrea J. Cosnowsky will lead Etz Chaim's seder on the second night of Passover, with songs led by Cindy Michelassi. About 200 people are expected to attend the participatory service, with both adults and children having parts in the seder. All are welcome. reservations are required.
