Literacy DuPage Tutor Training at the West Chicago Library

Help Change Someone’s Future … Become an Adult Literacy Tutor Today!

We are pleased to announce that thanks to the generous grant from the West Chicago Lions Club, we are offering a new volunteer training session in West Chicago beginning May 29th!

Literacy DuPage provides accessible and customized one-to-one English language tutoring to adults with low-level literacy skills who speak English as their first or second language. Our students have difficulty accessing classroom instruction due to transportation obstacles, work schedules, or lack of childcare.

No experience, teaching background or second language is required to be a tutor, just a willingness to help a neighbor. Tutors will receive comprehensive training in a series of six workshops preparing them for one-to-one tutoring. Once matched with an adult learner, Literacy DuPage staff will provide continued support.

Please plan to attend all 6 sessions: May 29 and June 4, 5, 11, 12, and 18 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the West Chicago Library.  There is a $25 fee to help cover the cost of materials.  For more information, please go to Literacy DuPage’s website www.literacydupage.org  or call 630.416.6699.
