Hispanic Parent-Student Leadership Academy

Glenbard District 87 and the Glenbard Parent Series-Spanish will present Grooming for Excellence, an Hispanic Parent/Student Leadership Academy, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec 12, at Glenbard West.

This workshop academy, designed and facilitated by Lourdes Ferrer, provides high school students and their parents with the skills they need to compete for high-paying STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) careers. Students will acquire a greater awareness of the challenges Hispanic students face and learn strategies to help them overcome those challenges. Through this academy, students and their parents are inspired to become role models among peers and assume leadership roles in school and/or the community.

Students who complete this academy qualify for a 5-hour ACT-math prep course facilitated by Ferrer, a few weeks before taking the Prairie State Achievement Exam.
