The Glen
Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company will host its
annual open house and safety expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the
downtown fire station located at 524 Pennsylvania Ave., at Main and Pennsylvania.
The fire company is highlighting its fund-raising efforts, as well as kicking off National Fire Prevention Week, with “Prevent Kitchen Fires” as this year’s message.

All fire equipment will be on display, and there will be games, educational displays, and a special
smoke/safety trailer where kids can learn about fire hazards in their home and
how they can escape a smoke filled room. Of course, the star of the show,
SPARKY the fire dog will be making a grand entrance.
This is
always a fun filled event and the perfect time to visit the fire station and
learn more about the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company, neighbors protecting neighbors.
