Glen Ellyn Historical Society's Twelve Week Major Railroad Exhibit at the History Center Opens April 29


   The Glen Ellyn Historical Society is creating a railroad exhibit which opens Tuesday, April 29 at 7:00 PM, featurng a speakers’ panel with local historian Bob Chambers and others who will share memories relating to Glen Ellyn’s Railroads. Location of this program is Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street, Glen Ellyn.  RSVP to 630-469-1867 x 101 or email:  Director@gehs.org.  On Thursday evening June 12, railroad photographer Mark Llanuza presents a program titled, “Train Wreck! The 1976 Derailment of Engine No. 242 and No. 380 in Glen Ellyn.  Llanuza has been a railroad photographer for 40 years and has been employed by Metra since 1996.  Special guest, Rex Hauser, will share his memories of reporting the “bumps in the railroad” the day before the wreck.  The program is at the GE History Center, 800 N. Main Street. Admission is $5 for members, $7 for non-members, Students free.
