District 89 Holiday Band Concert Features Fifth through Eighth Grade Musicians


 
     Katrina Berry, Community Consolidated School District 89 Symphonic Band Director and Lev Garbar, Sixth Grade Concert Band and Fifth Grade Beginning Band Director, have planned an all District 89 Holiday Concert that includes well known classical works as well as beloved holiday music.  Tuesday, December 18, at 7:00 P.M., in the Glen Crest Middle School gymnasium, located at 725 Sheehan Avenue, the band students will perform for
parents, friends, relatives and community guests.  Call the Glen Crest office for information at 630-469-5220.
     On Monday, December 17, Garbar travels with the sixth grade Concert Band to Yorktown Centre in Lombard  where they will perform a concert of holiday music from 7:00 to 7:30 P.M. 
     On Friday morning, December 14 at 8:15 A.M. Garbar and Berry will take part in the all-school music assembly that will include 6th, 7th and 8th grade bands, orchestras and choirs.  Every student at Glen Crest will attend this concert and be treated to the holiday music that each musical group performs at their individual concerts.  Some of the pieces included in the programs are, “The Polar Express Medley,” “Hanukkah Begins Tonight,” “Night on Bald Mountain,” and “Three Themes from the Nutcracker.”
