3 Months to 3 Miles Kick-Off

The B.R. Ryall YMCA along with community partners, Run Today, Whole Foods Market Wheaton and M&M Orthopedics have joined forces to provide the community with a complimentary program that will help participants achieve the goal of finishing a 5K by May 18, 2013. Register for the “3 Months to 3 Miles” program that kicks-off on Monday, February 18, 7:00 pm at the B.R. Ryall YMCA of Northwestern DuPage County.

During this three month program, participants will have the opportunity to tap into the expertise that each community partner has to offer, along with receiving the proper coaching to reach the goal of completing a 5K walk/run. “This is a unique opportunity for the entire community to take advantage of a program to help achieve wellness goals,” said Dee Dee McDevitt, Membership Director at the B.R. Ryall YMCA.

Each community partner brings a variety of important expertise to the table. Whole Foods Market Wheaton brings the nutrition and food expertise, Run Today is the expert on proper shoe fit and offers participants a foot scan and gait analysis, M&M Orthopedics will provide medical expertise on injury prevention, while the B.R. Ryall YMCA is the expert in helping individuals improve their health and achieve their healthy living goals.

The “3 Months to 3 Miles” program kicks off Monday, February 18 with the final goal being the B.R. Ryall YMCA’s 5K, “Race to Ryall,” on Saturday, May 18, 2013. Throughout the training program, there will be running/walking groups, injury prevention seminars, nutrition talks, gait analysis and more.

While participating in the “Race to Ryall” event is not a requirement of the program, the race is not only good for your health but good for your community too. The “Race to Ryall” 5K is one of B.R. Ryall YMCA’s biggest fundraisers. Proceeds from the race benefit B.R. Ryall YMCA’s Community Support Campaign which allows the Y to give back to the community.
