Direct from Washington D.C., the U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants Free Concert at the MAC April 4

Direct from Washington D.C., the U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants come to the McAninch Arts Center  for one spectacular performance Friday, April 4 at 8 p.m.

The works scheduled for the first half of the April 4 concert include the world premiere of “Departures” composed by Staff Major Sargent Robert Thurston; John Philip Sousa’s “The Belle of Chicago;” Alexander Arutiunian’s “Trumpet Concerto,” featuring Northwestern graduate Technical Sergeant Kris Westrich; the world premiere of “Selections from Ender’s Game Suite” by Christopher Calidendo and Arturo Marquez’s “Danzon No. 2.” The second half of the program will feature the Singing Sergeants performing selections from the Broadway stage, plus patriotic favorites.

The largest musical ensemble of The United States Air Force Band is the Concert Band. This world-class symphonic wind ensemble represents the best-of-the-best in musical talent and education within the Air Force. Technical Sergeant Kristin Bowers (Clarinet) of Downers Grove, Technical Sergeant Joey Bello (Euphonium) of Naperville and Master Sergeant Jeremy Koch (Alto Saxophone) of Chicago will be among the 55 skilled musicians featured in the entertaining and inspiring April 4 program.

Tickets may be requested by submitting a mail-in reservation form. Forms may be secured via the MAC’s Facebook page (facebook.com/AtTheMAC), or by registering for the MAC’s eblast or downloading the form at the MAC’s website, AtTheMac.org. Tickets may be picked up at the box office between noon and 7:15 p.m. on the day of the performance. Tickets not claimed as of 7:15 may be released.
