Whitley Likely to Stand Trial in September

The former Glenbard West football player faces charges of criminal sexual assault.

Four months ago Demarco Whitley was charged with criminal sexual assault and he will likely stand trial later this summer.

Whitley appeared in court Tuesday for a status hearing with attorney Donna Rotunno who said the trial will probably be set for September.

Before going to trial, Rotunno said she plans to file subpoenas to retrieve information that was previously posted on Facebook.

"This generation and people this age seem to post a lot of their lives on Facebook," said Rotunno.

She would not say who she planned to subpoena but reiterated that a lot of information is passed via texting and online networks like Facebook, which she feels could be relevant to help defend her client.

The next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 3 where parties could file pre-trial motions before the actual proceedings expected to be set for September.
