The most read story of the year was related to an incident that took place in a very public location in Wheaton.

Glen Ellyn Teen Charged with DUI After Driving SUV Into Park Boulevard Home

In early October, a Glen Ellyn 17-year-old was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after she smashed into a home and cause severe structural damage. The teen was driving and she and her passengers attempted to flee after the accident.

Boy Dies After Baseball Accident in Wheaton

In a freak accident, an Oswego boy who was warming up with his teammates prior to a game in Wheaton died when he was struck in the neck by a baseball. Eric Lederman was a player on the Oswego Panthers U12 traveling team. The team was playing at Atten Field in Wheaton when the accident occurred in April. 

Officials Identify Glen Ellyn Woman Killed by Metra Train

A 56-year-old Glen Ellyn woman died after being struck by a Metra Train in early officials. The incident occurred near the Glen Ellyn Metra Train Station at Crescent and Park boulevards.

Police: Freight Train Fatality Apparent Suicide

Officials determined that a 20-year-old Lombard woman died earlier this year when she was struck by a freight train near Glen Ellyn in Lombard.

July came in with a bang and heavy storms, causing unimaginable damage. Trees were downed, vehicles and homes damaged, roads were closed and power was out for days throughout Glen Ellyn.

Firefighters Battle Blaze at Home in Unincorporated Glen Ellyn

A home in unincorporated Glen Ellyn, which was under construction caught fire in late March and required the response of several area fire departments, including the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co.

In September we shared the story about William E. Brock who was indicted in California in connection with conspiring to distribute marijuana. Authorities found $1.3 million in gold and silver at his Ogden Avenue storage unit.

Sex Offender Watch: A Map of Homes to Keep on Your Radar this Halloween

In October, Glen Ellyn Patch shared a map detailing the locations of registered sex offenders in and around the Glen Ellyn area. Information was also shared about the registration process and the rules for Halloween.

Unusual Glen Ellyn Home Featured on Today Show

A quirky home that was for sale in Glen Ellyn made it on to the Today Show when real estate contributor Barbara Corcoran mentioned the home in a segment in early April. The home was under contract at the time and was listed for $367,500.
