The National Weather Service in Chicago issued a special weather statement for today's strong thunderstorms.
At 9:41 a.m. the NWS doppler radar indicated a strong line of thunderstorms extending from Glencoe to Lisle. This storm is moving east at 35 mph.
According to the NWS, winds could reach up to 50 mph and brief heavy downpours are possible.
Gusty winds may cause small branches to be blown down, and the NWS is advising residents to seek shelter in a sturdy structure until these storms have passed.
Impacted Areas: Lombard, Lisle, Bensenville, Chicago, Northbrook, Glen Ellyn, Addison, York Center, Woodridge, Winnetka, Wilmette, Westmont.
