Glen Ellyn Chamber Hosts Document Shredding Event Saturday

The event is free, but is limited to three banker-sized boxes of documents.

Wonder what to do with all those bank statements, old credit cards and utility bills?

If you’d like to clear out the clutter of all those old bills and statements but don’t have the time to shred them yourself, the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce has you covered.

The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Community Shredder Event from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday in the Glenwood municipal parking lot, located at Crescent Boulevard between Prospect and Glenwood avenues. The event is sponsored by the chamber, the Glen Ellyn Police Department and Community Bank Wheaton/Glen Ellyn.

The goal of the event is to help residents safely dispose of materials and protect against identity theft, according to the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce. Items brought to the shredder event will be shredded-on site.

The event is free for residents, but there is a limit to three banker-sized boxes of documents per person.

In addition to the shredding, the Lions Club will be collecting eyeglasses and Run Today will be on hand collecting used athletic shoes for the Winged Food Foundation.
