Ellen Degeneres Surprises Glen Ellyn Couple

Ellen Degeneres gives expecting couple more than $6,000 in gifts that will be useful when their first child arrives in June.

Ellen Degeneres surprised a Glen Ellyn couple expecting their first baby on Monday's show to shower them with Mother's Day gifts.

Degeneres said she received thousands of letters from mothers who wanted to attend the Mother's Day show, including one from Julie Oakley of Glen Ellyn.

In her letter to Degeneres, Julie Oakley wrote that after years of challenges, she and her husband found a surrogate to carry their child, who is due next month.

"This hasn't been a cheap process to say it lightly, but my husband John and I told each other we would do whatever it takes to have a child," she wrote.

As the Oakley's prepare for the arrival of their son, they also face the challenge of repairing damages to their home after last month's flood. Members of The Ellen Degeneres Show team delivered more than $6,000 in gifts that will be useful to the new parents.
