Mundelein resident encourages area to support local non-profit

Mundelein resident Brent Roberts' first encounter with the Over the Rainbow Association lead him to becoming a full-fledged supporter of the local non-profit.

When Mundelein resident Brent Roberts first encountered the Over the Rainbow Association, the experience made a lasting impression on him. The Over the Rainbow Association is a Chicago-area non-profit which provides
housing and employment opportunities to individuals with physical disabilities.

“I was impressed by the residents and staff that I’d met,” said Roberts. “I believe the organization
provides tremendous value to the individuals that it serves. To see the residents live independently with a positive attitude in spite of challenging life circumstances is very inspiring.”

Earlier this year, Roberts was presented with a great opportunity when he was asked to join
the newly formed Over the Rainbow Association’s “Junior Board,” a group of professionals
and volunteers who dedicate extra efforts to advance the mission of the organization.

Roberts has brought many years of experience to the Over the Rainbow Association. In addition to serving on the Board
of Directors of Busy Brains Children’s Museum in Lake County for the past five years, he also has worked as an adult literacy tutor.

“It’s my hope to help enhance the organization’s visibility and let others outside Over the Rainbow have a chance to learn about their great work,” said Roberts. “The group really demonstrates how quality life is achievable, even when individuals are confronted with difficult personal circumstances.”
