Georgia Koch joins Career Vision

Georgia Koch of Glen Ellyn has joined the professional staff as community outreach coordinator at Career Vision located at 526 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn. Her responsibility is to promote the Career Vision advantage.
Koch will accomplish this through networking and scheduling community education programs and by stressing the importance of learning more about one’s strengths and the advantage one gains from aptitude-based career planning.
“The goal is to create a buzz,” Koch said. “I hope to let people know that there is a local resource that can help people discover their strengths and develop realistic career and educational plans that support a career direction that leads to success and satisfaction.”
“When we purchased our building on Main Street and put in the adjacent park, we were making a commitment to Glen Ellyn,” said Peg Hendershot, executive director of Career Vision, “So who better to bring on board for Career Vision's outreach than Georgia Koch who has dedicated years promoting and supporting to the village, schools and community. We are so excited to have her join our team.”
Koch has lived in Glen Ellyn for nearly 40 years. She was – and remains - very active in the community having been a member of the Glen Ellyn Junior Women’s Club and Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare. She has served on Glen Ellyn Fourth of July committee and has volunteered with the Salvation Army in Glen Ellyn. She was the office manager of a local retail store and has been a campaign manager for local elections. In addition, she has been a room mother and hockey mom.
“I am a goal orientated person,” Koch said. “I am also the mother of four sons who went to college with little, or no, idea of what would be their major. With the aptitude testing done at Career Vision, they would have been better prepared to choose their career paths instead of stumbling across them.”
Koch says she’s very eager to reach out to the communities to take advantage of the services offered at Career Vision.
“Career Vision offers a better way of choosing a career path that saves time and money either for a student planning further schooling or for an adult contemplating the next career move,” she said. “It is personally satisfying to know someone has been given assistance that will make their lives better.”
Koch earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a psychology minor from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH. She also has a secondary teaching degree from William Jewell College, Liberty, MO.
She is the mother of four sons, one daughter-in-law and one new grandbaby.
