Tickets Selling Quickly for Inaugural Downtown Glen Ellyn Wine & Finds

The Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn is hosting its first ever Wine & Finds event on May 4. Tickets are limited for the inaugural event.

The event is still months away, yet tickets are already selling fairly quickly for Glen Ellyn’s first ever Wine & Finds. The expectation is the event will sell out.

The event, being held on Saturday, May 4, is limited to 150 tickets and will offer participants the opportunity to enjoy a number of different wines from distributors who will share their wines at stores around downtown.

“With any new event we want to make sure we are doing it right before opening it to the masses,” said Carol White, the Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn’s executive director.

The Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn is sponsoring the event, which will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 4.

“We are bringing out three different wine distributors in 15 stores throughout downtown,” White said. “We will have very nice wines, very fun wines and very different wines. Not just your everyday wine.”

The afternoon will begin at Cabernet & Company where participants will register and receive their glass for the event, White said. Then, the wine tour begins as event goers stop at the participating stores and receive a sampling of wine.

At each store, participants will receive two .5-ounce samples, White said. The wine must be consumed in the store before moving on to the next location. And, at each store there will be a “beautiful” pairing of food to compliment the wine.

In addition, there will be shopping specials at the 15 participating stores, she said.

Tied in with the event will be a special brunch at Bistro Monet, she said. The brunch will be held at 11:30. Also, Tap House Grill will be celebrating the Kentucky Derby, which is the same day as Wine & Finds with a patio party and grill specials. The Derby party will be held at 5 p.m.

A drawing will be held and one lucky person will win a grand prize gift basket with items from each of the participating stores, White said.

“We are really excited,” White said of the event. “Last year’s spring event was Shops & Hops and we are excited to switch it up this year. We are excited to bring distributors to our stores and people can order the wine they like and pick it up at Cabernet & Company.”
