The Stand Restaurant Receives Interior, Facade Improvement Grants

Fast food restaurant receives grant money for facade and interior improvements.

A new fast food restaurant set to open in downtown Glen Ellyn this spring has received $30,000 in grants for interior and facade improvements from the Village of Glen Ellyn, according to the spring newsletter from the village's economic development department.

The Stand Restaurant, 542 Crescent Blvd. received a $15,000 Interior Improvement Grant from the village for upgrades including a sprinkler system, a fire alarm system, a new electrical system, new plumbing and concrete floors in the basement and on the first floor.

The village also approved a $15,000 Facade Improvement Grant for a new awning, doors and windows and masonry and limestone construction upgrades at the restaurant.

The Stand will open in the former Express Press location and serve fast food items, including beef and sausage sandwiches, gyros, hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, wings, breaded chicken and grilled chicken sandwiches, salads and veggie burgers. 

The restaurant, which has been under construction since early this year, was originally set to open in March.
