Shoppers Can Find Deals at Indoor Sidewalk Sale

The 3rd annual sale will be held this weekend in downtown Glen Ellyn.

Shopping for a deal in downtown Glen Ellyn will get a little easier this weekend when the Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn hosts its 3rd annual Indoor Sidewalk Sale.

With the weather a mixed bag this time of year, the sidewalk sale will bring together a number of downtown businesses offering special deals in one space.

The event will be held in the empty space at 476 N. Main St. Friday and Saturday, according to Carol White, executive director of the Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn.

"The goal of the event is to bring folks downtown shopping," White said. "We hope to make it easier to hit several locations at once with some fun DJ music in a 'market' kind of atmosphere.  Shoppers have loved the atmosphere of multiple downtown businesses and super sale all together in one location.  There are many locations that will offer a indoor sidewalk sale as well at their location, like Run Today, The Bike Shop, and Marcel's.  We also want folks to brave the cold and visit all the shops downtown as they are filling with awesome Spring merchandise."

Businesses participating include: M and Em’s, Swap Shop, AliKat, Treasure House, Ten Thousand Villages, Renaissance Art Studio, Enchantments, P.S. Flowers, Fuschia, Anastazia, Costello Jewelry Company, Courier Travel, Paisley on Main, and Olive N Vinnies Oil & Balsamic Bar.

The response to the event has been great and word of mouth has helped spread information on the event, including the deals available, White said. Roughly 1,000 people stopped in last year, with other shoppers visiting stores outside the remote location.

During the indoor sidewalk sale only cash will be accepted in most cases and items will be nonrefundable, White said.

The indoor sale will be held Fri., Jan. 25, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Sat., Jan. 26, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at 476 N. Main St.
