Ribbon Cutting: Chamber Welcomes New Glen Ellyn Restaurant

The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce welcomed Glen Ellyn's newest restaurant, Cantina, at a ribbon-cutting event Friday.

A ribbon-cutting event was held Friday to officially welcome the newest restaurant to Glen Ellyn.

The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce hosted the event at Cantina just two weeks after the Mexican restaurant opened for business.

So far, owners Danny Sronkoski, Ami Sronkoski and John Lejeck said business has exceeded their expectations.

"People have been very welcoming but it has also been challenging. We're happy so far going into week two," Danny said.

This is not Danny's only restaurant in Glen Ellyn, he also owns on Main Street, which is a few blocks from Cantina.

"The Chamber is pleased to have Danny open up a second restraurant in town, as he embodies the Glen Ellyn spirit and is an engaged member of the community," Executive Director Georgia Koch said.

Danny said he wanted to open Cantina in Glen Ellyn because he already has a base here and felt there was demand for another Mexican restaurant in town, and a place for live entertainment.

The plan is to have live bands, open mic nights, karaoke, and comedy acts at least two nights a week. Playing off the idea of Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican holiday, Sronkoski said there will be a "Cinco de Drinko" event on the fifth day of each month.
