Friday night's Mega Millions lottery jackpot has reached $540 million, a record sum according to this All Things Considered segment that aired on NPR Thursday.
In the segment, mathematician Aaron Abrams said the odds of a player winning the lottery is 1 in 176 million and, even for the paltry $1 price, buying a lottery ticket is a bad economic decision.
