Peapod has opened its sixth pick-up location in Downers Grove at 417 63rd Street.

The Downers Grove Peapod will be open daily. The pick-up option is also available in Arlington Heights, Deerfield, Palatine, Lincolnshire and Schaumburg. There are currently 130 locations across the east coast in the Chicago area with plans to add more in 2014, according to the Peapod Facebook page.

No fee or minimum order size is required to use the pick-up option. Same-day pick-up is available at the Downers Grove Peapod for a $2 fee if orders are placed by 10 a.m., according to the Peapod website.

“Our mission at Peapod has always been to bring convenience to our customers,” said Andrew Parkinson, president & co-founder of Peapod in a press release.  “Time is a valued resource to busy, on-the-go Chicagoland residents.  We want to ensure that everyone has access to Peapod’s full grocery services, regardless of whether they can schedule a home delivery or not.”

Pick-up times are available in one-hour windows from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Downers Grove location, according to the Peapod website. You can schedule a pick-up time online when placing your grocery order via the Peapod website.

Parkinson said Downers Grove was the ideal location for adding a pick-up location.

"Our customers can pull in to our new location on 63rd Street where our friendly staff will greet them, take their coupons, and load their groceries within five minutes—you don’t even have to get out of your car," he said. "It’s a convenient, stress-free option.”

Peapod’s virtual shelves have more than 11,000 popular- and house-brand products, from grocery basics to farm-fresh produce; restaurant-quality meats and seafood; prepared foods and party trays; deli meats and cheeses, sliced to order; Kosher, organic and specialty foods; office, school and pet supplies; and a variety of beer, wine and beverages (available in select markets).

For an efficient, interactive shopping experience, Peapod intuitively organizes products and tracks guests’ purchase history.  Peapod shoppers can create personal lists, review nutrition facts, sort products by price or by nutritional content, and take advantage of thousands of weekly specials.
