Next Stop Coffee Shop Offering Coffee Cupping for Connoisseurs

If you like coffee and want to try a number of different types, the Next Stop Coffee Shop is hosting a special coffee event Feb. 2. Get the details.

Wine has its connoisseurs and so does coffee.

Local Java shop, Next Stop Coffee Shop, will be buzzing next weekend when it hosts its first ever coffee cupping.

The cupping, a coffee tasting, will be held after the shop’s normal business hours and participants must pay and register to attend. The event is being held Feb. 2 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Next Stop sells Metropolis coffee and the shop’s owner Craig Yerly said a representative from the Metropolis will be in attendance during the tasting, guiding the cupping and a discussion about the coffee.

After trying out the various coffees, if tasters aren’t already flying off the walls, they will be able to purchase their favorite brews from the day, Yerly said.

Since Yerly opened the coffee shop last July, the coffee shop saw a doubling in the number of cups of coffee sold, which he attributed to coffee quality, customer service and marketing.

Coffee lovers who want to attend the event must reserve a spot by Feb. 1. Tickets can be purchased at the Next Stop Coffee Shop, 551 Crescent Blvd., Mon. – Fri. from 5 to 11 a.m. Tickets are $25. Credit cards will be accepted. Participants may also e-mail Next Stop Coffee Shop to set up a payment.
