Letter to the Editor: Chamber Thanks Community for Most Successful Taste Yet

The next free event will be "Jazz in Glen Ellyn" on July 14 in downtown Glen Ellyn.

On behalf of the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce we would like to thank all of the 25,000 plus visitors that attended the 2012 Taste of Glen Ellyn.  We had a huge crowd along with four of the most perfect days that any festival would dream of.

We would also like to thank all of the many, many Chamber volunteers who unselfishly gave of their time to make this event the most successful in the last 31 years.  Without your help this event could not happen.  We also thank the Village of Glen Ellyn, Police Department, Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company and the Village Public Works Department for their for their continued support.

The success of the “Taste”, which is the Chamber’s major fundraising event of the year, assists in generating funding for many of the other community events that are provided by the Chamber for Glen Ellyn residents and our visitors.  The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce receives no direct funding from the Village and therefore utilizes events and membership income to provide many free events for our community.  Some of the events that are free to the public include, Taste of Glen Ellyn, Jazz in Glen Ellyn, Halloween Parade and the Christmas Holiday Walk.

Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from our events are used to support Glen Ellyn Charities.  Some of these include the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry and Supplies4Success. In this way everyone benefits from our success.

Once again thanks for your continued support and remember our next free event will be “Jazz in Glen Ellyn” on July 14, 2012, in beautiful downtown Glen Ellyn.  We look forward to seeing you there!
